MOBIUS RÉEMPLOI
CONSULTING / INDUSTRY / STORAGE
FINDINGS
Mobius specialises in reuse consulting and in the production of reconditioned building materials.
We are positioned as a key player in the reduction of waste, the use of raw materials and carbon emissions in the construction industry through reuse and repurposing.
Our activity is based on a series of simple observations, in no order of priority:
Raw materials:
Efforts are made to estimate the probability of exhaustion of the raw materials needed by our economy. Although some estimates are open to debate, factual indicators clearly show that we have already exhausted the most easily accessible deposits. Beyond the economic impact, which is beginning to be felt, the environmental impact of new extraction techniques is extremely alarming.
Energy:
Construction is the leading energy user, accounting for 45% of national consumption. However, we need to make a distinction between the energy used to heat, cool, light and operate a building, and the energy required to manufacture the materials used for its construction. Over the lifetime of an energy-efficient building, it can be estimated that the proportion of the latter is between 30% and 50%. While a major effort is being made to reduce energy used to operate buildings, there is still a long way to go when it comes to energy used to produce construction materials. Extending the lifespan of materials and equipment therefore offers major leverage.
CO2:
Energy and the production/extraction of materials are intrinsically linked, and greenhouse gas emissions (primarily CO2) by the construction industry (the 4th largest emitter in France), are precipitating a climate, economic, social and environmental crisis of exceptional gravity, underlining the obvious: unlimited production in a world of finite resources makes no sense. As in the case of energy, reuse is a highly effective alternative that is not yet subscribed to across the board.
Jobs and the economy:
Most materials are imported, inducing several negative external factors: the CO2 impact of international transport, the neutralisation of job opportunities in importing countries, and the mass marketing of products manufactured under uncontrolled or even precarious labour conditions. Reuse is therefore a viable social solution, creating jobs, particularly in industry, that cannot be relocated and require low-level qualifications. It is a sector of activity conducive to the transition from a carbon-based economy to one aiming for neutrality.

SOLUTIONS
Mobius has developed two types of intervention. Their juxtaposition may seem somewhat out of the box but, in practice, they make perfect sense.
Mobius Conseil offers an alternative perspective on (de)construction by proposing a "resource"-based approach to waste management. Resource diagnosis, project management support and environmental project management are just some of the solutions offered to project owners wishing to limit the environmental impact of their operations.
Mobius Industrie implements the processes needed to bring reused construction products to market. After a product design cycle, Mobius creates the technical line for its implementation.

CONSULTING
We give a new perspective to building and deconstructing, with a commitment to waste reduction and smart resource consumption.
We help project owners and prime contractors make the most of existing materials through reuse, and integrate reused materials into new or renovated buildings.
STRIP OUT OPERATION / DEMOLITION:
Support for selective deconstruction!
1. WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) DIAGNOSIS
Since 1 January 2022, this diagnosis has been mandatory for demolition projects (> 1000 m²) or major building renovation projects. It consists of:
. a waste diagnosis (quantification and qualification of waste)
. a resource inventory (inventory of materials and equipment with reuse potential, recommendations for removal and packaging).
2. MASTER PLAN
Proposal of reuse deployment:conservation, donation, sale.
3. TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Careful removal, packaging and storage methods, drafting of selective removal technical specifications.
4. ORGANISATION OF COLLABORATIVE REMOVAL DAYS
Administrative, insurance and technical management to enable the removal of items by tradesmen and associations for donation purposes.
5. SITE TRACKING
Attendance at site meetings, follow up of removal work, packaging and storage, updating of stock when made available to buyers.
6. SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT
Tracking of environmental benefits: waste avoided, grey energy saved, carbon not emitted.
NEW-BUILD OR REHABILITATION:
Integrate reused materials into your projects!
1. FEASIBILITY STUDY
Definition of materials compatible with the architectural/technical project and reuse objectives.
2. SOURCING
Search for materials in on- or off-site operations.
3. COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS
Monitoring of the technical control of reused materials to be integrated into the operation.
4. INSURANCE VALIDATION
Managing the insurability of reused materials: product warranty, two-/ten- year warranty.
5. SITE TRACKING
Attendance at site meetings, follow up of the supply and implementation of reused materials.
6. SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT
Tracking of environmental benefits: waste avoided, grey energy saved, carbon not emitted.
INDUSTRY
Mobius develops the reuse of materials in the construction industry by sourcing and supplying reused building materials.
By shifting the focus from waste to product resource, Mobius is committed to extending the lifespan of construction materials and equipment, while ensuring their technical viability.
1. Sourcing
Search for deposits on rehabilitation, deconstruction and demolition projects...
Validation of reusability.
2. Transport
Delivery between the collection site, our plant and the destination worksite.
3. Preparation Traceability
Cleaning, preparation and reconditioning of components.
Full traceability.
Handover of load slips.
4. Packaging
Packed on pallets and strapped, ready for delivery.
5. Insurance
Ten-year product liability.
Civil liability for industrial and commercial companies.
